What we offer

We are a dynamic, vibrant group and each year have a full and varied schedule of events and activities enabling members to come together to share their enthusiasms and passions for the visual arts.

On the first and third TUESDAY EVENING of each month we meet for a programme of talks, demonstrations, competitions and critique.  We enjoy presentations by experienced and interesting local artists and schedule a variety of eclectic competition themes. Please see the events page for further details. During the winter, we have changed the meeting time to 2pm – 4pm on Tuesdays to avoid those dark, cold, wet evenings.

On THURSDAYS we have practical, informal sessions with the focus decided by consensus of members. Subjects span the full spectrum of artistic method including iPad Art supplemented, on occasion, with workshops and demonstrations led by guest artists.  Members interested in Experiment, Revision, Discussion and Development are invited to come along, with their painting materials.

Thursday sessions are: 9.30am – 12.30pm and 1.00pm – 4.00pm at the Sea Cadets Hall.

Inspired by our location by the Exe Estuary, in the summer we enjoy plein air, working at a number of different locations.

All subscribed members are welcome to come to all or any of the above meetings and are also eligible to enter the main exhibition we hold annually at the Ocean complex on Exmouth seafront.  In October we hold our prestigious annual exhibition on the second floor Estuary Suite at Ocean.  The venue overlooks the Exe Estuary and the large picture windows allow access to the stunning views of this area of outstanding natural beauty - a wonderful source of inspiration for our artists and visitors!

As often as possible, visits to art based events are arranged.  Destinations, often proposed by members, have taken in the National Museum in Cardiff, Penlee House in Penzance and galleries in Bath.  We go to the Bristol RWA Open Exhibition in the autumn.  We are very much a community group and so our social calendar is an important aspect including a summer champagne reception hosted by our Patrons, Nigel and Heleen Lyndsay-Fynn.
